Watched Amir Khan’s Satyamev Jayte today. The Maxim “Satyamev Jayte”…..! already met the same fate similar to those unborn babies …. killed in the womb i.e. foeticide.. Immediatly after the above programme, the channel showed the movie “Gangajal”. There was marked similiarity in the “Satya…..” and the “Gangajal”. In both Great men like Amir and Prakash Jha repeated the usual ritual of highlighting social evils in some form or the other. I then remembered that right from the era of “Godan” by Munshi Prem chand in earlier decades of 20th Century to Ganga Jamuna, Mujhe Jeene do, Namak ***** etc.; hundreds of books, films and dramas echoed almost all types of social evils. But what is the result? We have not improved a bit. The naked truth is that we are not sensitive enough to realise and remove evils. Now Amir Khan the great personality….. known as Mr. Perfectionist has also joined the band wagon. Surely he will earn name and fame but past experience shows that we will not remain where we are but definitely maintain our downward journey with more vigor and momentum. I know, so many may call me pessimist. But between optimision and pessimision lies the reality: realism. I am realistic and will tell reality only. The reality is that we all have not learnt any lesson from the past. Either it is Amir Khan or Prakash Jha or even Anna Hazare or Baba Ramdev. Everybody is attempting to behead the “Ravan” and nobody has ever tried to find out and hit the “Nabhi”- the center. But I am a small man and the society only listens to the so called great men. Long live? the society and its social evils.
