Basic question, how do you flirt?

I’m 21 and I Have no idea how to flirt or when women are flirting with me. I don’t know any of the cues or signals etc and i basically need a bit of advice with it.

Don’t get me wrong I have had relationships, I recently got dumped after a 3 year relationship with a woman I love so when other guys were out partying I was out at “Dinner and movies” so never got to refine my techniques lol. Big blow to the confidence lol.
I’m a fun enough guy and I dont think I’m that bad looking (I have kinda long hair and I’m pretty buff but I’m not over the top and I know there is things i can improve lol)

And another thing how do you get confidence? I’ve never been a very confident kinda guy, I’m more the “Shy, bookish” kinda guy but I am funny and outgoing when I get to know people and build my confidence with them (catch 22 situation, I know lol).

Any help you guys can give would be a great help and/or a couple of good websites would be good too.

Okay, little background.
Been into girls my whole life (i am a girl) my first crush, everything. Thought of being with a guy grossed me out, gold star here…. blah blah blah. My point is, I don’t know what guys mean sometimes and I get confused sometime when interacting with them. I’ve gotten out of a two year relationship with my girlfriend so I’ve decided to no longer shut the idea out of my head and it doesn’t help I’ve liked this guy for a while now. He is 8 years older then me. He knows I’m gay and how I used to feel about men. We’ve been friends for about 2 years, but recently we’ve become a lot closer. We hang out at his house, go to dinner (he always insists on paying) and we’ve made plans a lot to go out more, but I’m coming to realize he is a slight phobic of leaving his house at night. (Not joking, it seriously makes him really nervous) so often times they get canceled and we just end up hanging out at his house (also for later explained reason, I think he want to avoid having people see us in public)

Anyway, because he is my boss at our job (<---explanation) I do not want to bluntly advance him, but I am a tad flirtatious by nature, even with men. I don't tease, I just compliment a lot, i go out of my way to make people feel good (no I'm not a whore). He is the exact same way, which is why, as i figured, he always insists on paying for me. We talk about everything. His ex, my ex, girls he's been doing recently, girl's I've been doing recently, his kid, his job, my job, my parents, awesome movies, Robin Williams jokes, video games.... yadda yadda, EVERYTHING. He invited me to go look at houses with him and he asks me to lunch with his daughter sometimes. He's always said, "you're like my little sister." Which I figured right then and there he was friend zoning me, i was bummed, but, it's okay. Then, when he was asked in front of me, "is this the special lady you keep talking about?" he said "This is _______. she's like my little sister." Other guy says "you sure about that?" "She's like.... my little sister." Neither denying it nor confirming (he went on a date with a chick very recently, so I'm not immediately assuming I am the special lady, No i didn't ask him.) , but he was pausing and avoiding eye contact with the guy. Okay..? whatever.

Today, he calls me up and cancels on some movie plans we had later because he just wanted to relax, He was running around all day, so i figured be was tired and just wanted to play video games and kick back with some 40's. After giving him shit, i said it was cool. He then wanted to make dinner plans for another day. After tell him when I was free, he replies in a sultry voice,
"well Saturday? hmmm... I guess it's a date then?"
O_O "what? a date?" (thinking this wasn't just another one of those times when we're messing wth each other.)

"ummm... this is akward.... umm"

From what you can tell in this hastily formed question at 12:35 in the morning. does this guy seem like he has a thing for me? Again I say, I'm not really sure...

So I am seriously thinking of proposing to this girl so, and we had our standard weekend date.

So we started at Taco Bell. Now, this place has free refills, so obviously there is no need to order 2 drinks, as we can share… But I figured, that she is a good girl, and probably deserves, so I was generous and got a separate cup for her.

Then we went to the movies, and I picked this theater that plays 2nd run movies… Which is a win-win, because it is really cheap, and the only theater around that is still playing Alvin & the Chipmunks II “the squeakle” Man, I love that crazy squirell.

Then I as the lights went down, I thought I would pull a little sexy/romantic surprise move. So I poked a hole in the bottom of the pop-corn bucket and put my wiener in it. Well, she got to the bottom of the bucket, felt it, and shrieked… And I immediately added some extra “butter” to the corn.

Well, on the way home, I got the silent treatment… She was not impressed with my efforts… Well, now I am having second thoughts, because is a girl who doesn’t appreciate a nice dinner, movie, and a romantic gesture, really worth marrying? Should I still propose?
