I rescued a dog, he is 1 1/2 to 2 years old, medium, border collie-esque mix and just shy of 23.5 lbs as of March 29th(he is a little thin, rescue dog after all). Ive always lived with dogs and they have all been kibble fed dogs; we used to have a couple of spaniels that barely saw 8 (diabetes/glaucoma) and a dane that lived to be 9 (old age/bloat). Right now my mom has a Rat Terrier (12) who is on a grain-free diet (Acana/TotW),she suffered allergies almost all her life before switching to grain-free and a couple of her teeth got ruined from her first years spent on bad food. My mother does not like the idea of raw food… but this is my dog and I don’t want him to grow up ill or with skin problems or bad teeth… so I’ve been interested in raw diets. – How do I go about switching him to a raw diet? He is on TotW right now, I gave a piece of meat yesterday just to see if he’ll eat it, but he just went and hid it. – How much do I give him? Should the pieces be small, or should I just get a cut with larger meaty bones and let him have a party with it? Which pieces/cuts are best? – Are all animal parts good? Is it okay to give chicken heart/liver or kidneys? Any other tips are appreciated!
