I will be getting an 8 week old puppy soon and would like to know if he can be trained to be a service dog. I suffer from depression and extreme anxiety. My therapist and I talked about getting a dog to help with these problems. It will be a small dog at 20-25 pounds with Jack Russell and some other breed. If I’m going to do this though, I want to go all the way. Complete training is mandatory for me. I don’t ever want to be in public and embarrassed by my dogs behaviour. I’m hoping someone can give me some insight because I have tried researching this and some people seem to think only purebreds can be therapy/service dogs while others disagree. I am more than willing to put 150% effort in to this I just need to know if a mutt is acceptable for the law.
